Fountains of Rome

In Rome, in any & every respectful square or ‘piazza’, you can find a marble fountain from ancient & sometimes, forgotten times, fountains that were ordered by people of local nobility so to glorify the entrances to their palaces or add glory to important churches. Every square or ‘piazza’ has its own past; every fountain- its own story. The abundance of fountains is very characteristic of Rome, a city often called: The City of fountains.

We will start our tour in the Piazza del Popolo, or in English “People Square” one of the biggest & most beautiful squares in Rome. There we will see the northern entrance to the city: the Porta Del Popolo, through which millions of people entered Rome throughout 2,000 years.

We will continue to the Artists Street: Via Margutta: with its special atmosphere. From there, we will continue to Baboon Street, or in its Italian name: Del Babuino. Why, you might ask, is it called Baboon Street? As we continue our tour, you will find out…

Through via del Babuino  we will reach one of the most famous Piazzas ,or squares, in Rome: the Spain Square: there, we can climb the Spanish steps– only 135 stairs- but no worries- an elevator is available.

We continue our tour into the street fashion brands : Via Condotti. From there- to the most famous of all fountains: The Trevi or The Wishes Fountain: a must-stop at place for anyone who wants to re-visit Rome in the future!

We’ll have a taste of ancient Rome as we observe two of its most ancient structures from its classic period: the temple of Hadrian and the Pantheon; the temple of all the gods in the Roman Olympus: a magnificent structure of beauty and engineering.

Here we will stop for a coffee break (the best coffee in Rome), or ice-cream (the best in Rome and in the whole universe!) and we will end up in the beautiful Piazza Navona with the 4 rivers fountain of the great sculptor Barinini.
